We all know that a well-made, tidy bed greatly improves the overall impression of a bedroom. However, many of us don't have the time to painstakingly care for our linens. Bed sheets are notorious for wrinkles, and very few of us have the time to actually iron them. A few simple measures can almost completely take care of this pesky problem without having to break out that iron. Read on to learn more.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Choose sheets that have a good amount of stretch in them. Sheets with lower thread counts and polyester blends have less wrinkles. Jersey knit sheets (or T-shirt sheets) stretch the most, which means hardly any wrinkles.

  2. Step 2

Wash sheets alone or with a similar weight of fabric. This helps prevent bunching as they wash.

  3. Step 3

Dry sheets without overloading the dryer. If possible, dry them alone. This prevents twisting and eliminates the chance of socks or other small items getting caught in the sheet.

  4. Step 4

Use the low-heat setting on the dryer. Remove the sheets before they are completely dry and wrinkles have set in.

  5. Step 5

Fold sheets as soon as you remove them from the dryer, pressing down and smoothing them as you fold.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you've left your sheets in the dryer too long and wrinkles have set in, throw in a damp washcloth and dry them on low for about 10 minutes.
  • The higher the thread count of your sheets, the more they will wrinkle.
  • If you must have perfect wrinkle-free sheets, consider ironing just the top portion that folds over the bedspread. Ironing the pillowcases can also make it seem like you spent hours preparing your linens, when in reality it was just minutes.
