Use Organic Sunblock

Avoiding the sun all together would be the most effective means of sunblock but is totally unreasonable. The next best choice is to use organic sunblock to protect the skin from harmful UV rays. Many sunscreens with sunblock contain synthetic chemicals that can cause allergic reactions or more serious complications to certain individuals. So go with organic instead. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Read the labels. All makers of sunscreens and sunblocks on the market are required by the FDA to list the ingredients. Avoid products with harmful chemicals like parabens, benzophenones, salicylates or cinnamates if they are contained in the list.

    • 2

Choose a sunblock without chemical preservatives. If you are not sure what a word means look on the label for a telephone number or website to contact the company and ask them directly.

    • 3

Avoid artificial fragrance. If you are going to go organic, look for plant- and flower-based fragrances in the sunblock.

    • 4

Stay clear of chemical dyes. These are easy to spot since there will first be a color then a number immediately following it in the ingredients.

    • 5

Protect yourself from UV rays with the safest products possible. The most commonly used product to block the sun is zinc oxide. Although zinc is not technically organic, it has been on the market for a long time and it is proved to be entirely safe.

Tips & Warnings

  • Always apply sunblock frequently. Just because it's organic doesn't mean you can use it less.
