How to Take the Perfect Picture

"A good picture will last a lifetime." This old adage still holds true. Take a look at some of your photographs. A perfect picture will recapture time spent with a deceased loved one or start you reminiscing about memorable events in your life. An imperfect picture will be discarded almost as soon as you lay your eyes on the print.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Get the group together. It can be difficult to get everyone in one place. While you have the whole gang together, take a group portrait. It will be a treasured keepsake.
Step2
Be candid. Resist the urge to make every shot a posed photograph and jump into candid shots that capture the spirit of the people and the occasion. If you are shooting digital, then take multiple pictures at different angles and edit later.
Step3
Zoom in. Close to your subjects is almost always better. Use your zoom option on the lens to fill the frame and get a more dynamic composition. People freeze up when they see a camera, so stand back to get more authentic and unexpected pictures.
Step4
Set the mode. Unless you are going for a specific effect, use the camera's easiest shooting mode for your picture taking. You will miss fewer shots and have more time to focus on enjoying the event.
Step5
Be conscious of your background and position in relation to the light source in the room. A profane sign, or a pole that looks like it is jutting out of someone's head can ruin a good shot. Also, consider where the light is coming from in the room. Have your group face the light source, rather than look away from it in order to avoid capturing only silhouettes!
