Things You'll Need:
- Small saucepan
- Metal bowl
- Large square of aluminum foil
-
Step 1
Fill your saucepan with a few inches of cold water. Do not overfill, as there should be plenty of space between the water and the bottom of the bowl.
-
Step 2
Place the aluminum foil sheet over the pan and loosely secure around the sides.
-
Step 3
Gently press your metal bowl down on top of the aluminum foil, until the bowl is cradled by the pot. Now firmly press the aluminum foil around the outside of the pan.
-
Step 4
Place on your stovetop, turn on the heat and bring to a boil. If any steam escapes from the side, particularly if you are melting chocolate, carefully press the foil down with a wooden spoon.
-
Step 5
Fill the bowl with chocolate, custard or other ingredients of your choice and get cooking.
