How to Host a Summer Cook Out
There's nothing quite like a cook out with friends and family on a warm summer day. The smell of the burgers and brats simmering on the grill and the sounds of a rousing game of volleyball are just a couple of the best things about a summer cook out. But to make sure yours is a success, all you have to do is follow a few simple tips.

1
Make your guest list. A cozy summer cook out with your closest friends an family can quickly explode into a thirty or forty guest keg party. Invite those you want to be present and gently insist it is an intimate affair. Your brother's best friend's cousin doesn't really merit an invitation.

2
Decide on a menu. Of course it is a cook out, so burgers, hotdogs and the like are sure to be there. But think about some side items too. Potato salad, fruit cocktail, chips and dip, these are all popular summer cook out fare.

Check out some activities. Volleyball and swimming are always classics, but there are a few obscure games worth looking into also. Games like Cornhole and Washers, which have many similarties to Horseshoes, are great competitive games.

Get some music. A pre-loaded play list or just a stereo set to classic rock will make the party even more inviting. Watch the volume if you have lots of neighbors.

Any of the aforementioned games can be found online, if you don't already know what they are. You can buy the games or easily assemble them yourself.
Ask for a "handout." Asking guests to bring a covered dish or contribute with plates an cups is perfectly normal and is usually expected.
