Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Step1
First off, if you're new to ho'oponopono, check out my website (see Resources below). This will help you learn the basics. Or Joe Vitale's "Zero Limits" is a great book to start with.
Step2
Ho'oponopono is an ancient Hawaiian art that was modified and is now called self-identity through ho'oponopono. Basically you need to realize that everything around you is not really outside you, but inside. You are making everything in this world happen. You are 100 percent responsible for everything in your life. You are 100 percent responsible for all the problems you've encountered.
Step3
That may seem heavy and you may be like, "Yeah right." I know I was at first. But here is the thing, we can control our conscious mind. We can control what we are thinking if we make a conscious effort. I know it as the law of attraction. But what you don't know, is the subconscious mind is the mind with the power. So you might be thinking positive thoughts, but your subconscious mind is stuck in a memory.
Step4
Our subconscious mind tells us how to react to certain situations and events based on memories. It's like a tape recorder playing over and over again. Because of this blockage, we're not attracting what we really want. So how do you stop this? By erasing our memories to get back to the zero limit. The zero limit is where your subconscious mind is quiet (empty) and you are able receive inspiration from the divine (or God).
Step5
To erase memories, there are several tools available. The first and most important is free; it's repeating, "I love you, I'm sorry, please forgive me and thank you." You repeat this over and over when you encounter a problem. So say you are having a bad day. You want to clean and get back to zero, be at peace. So you say, "Whatever is inside me that is attracting this, I'm sorry, please forgive me and thank you." I then say "I love you," over and over since I think "I love you" is the most powerful cleaner of them all.
Step6
You need to always be cleaning since your subconscious is filled with millions of memories. Even if your life is going great, you need to clean and eliminate potential problems before they happen. You never stop cleaning. The more you clean, the closer you are to receiving inspiration, or attracting great things.

on 4/4/2008 Yes, gratitude is an important part of ho'oponopono. By saying you're thankful, sorry, and loved, goes a long way.
