How to Make a Stylish Burp Cloth

Just because a baby’s burp cloth is designed to catch drool and spit up doesn’t mean it can’t be stylish at the same time. With a little sewing know-how and some cute fabric, turning a boring burp cloth into a hip mama accessory is a snap.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging

Things You’ll Need:

• Prefolded cloth diaper (20 by 14 inches in size)
• Stylish fabric
• Thread
• Scissors
• Sewing machine
• Pins
• Iron
• Ironing board

1. Measure the width of the center panel of the prefolded cloth diaper.
2. Cut the stylish fabric you chose to be 1 inch wider than the width of the center panel and ½ inch longer than the length of the diaper.
3. Place the fabric rectangle you just cut right side down. Fold each raw edge over ¼ inch and press with a hot iron.
4. Pin the pressed fabric along the center of the diaper. The length of the fabric should match up with the length of the diaper and the width of the fabric should just overlap the width of the center panel.
5. Stitch the fabric panel to the diaper with a 1/8 inch seam allowance.

Tips & Warnings

• Sew ribbon around the edge of the fabric panel for an added decorative touch.
