Juno began offering email services in 1996 when the Internet and email were in the initial stages of the World Wide Web boom. The early versions of Juno email allowed users to send email and download email messages quickly to keep from tying up the telephone lines. Juno began offering Internet service for free in 1999. Juno earned income by providing advertisements in the built-in Juno web client. Today, Juno offers DSL Internet service at discounted prices in over 6,000 cities in the USA. Each account allows users to sign up for Juno email as well.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Go to the Juno website (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Look for a box titled "New to Juno," and click on the "Access Numbers" link.

  3. Step 3

Scroll down to the bottom of the page where you are asked to provide the area code and first 3 digits of your telephone number (landline). Type in your digits and wait for Juno to display the list of telephone numbers available in your area. If telephone numbers are not listed, you can't use Juno.

  4. Step 4

Return to the Juno homepage by clicking the "Back" button on your web browser twice.

  5. Step 5

Look for and click the "View More Plans" link in the same "New to Juno" box where you found the previous link.

  6. Step 6

Review the various plans offered by Juno, as well as the amounts of email storage with each plan. Click the "CheckOut" button on the plan best meeting your current Internet and email usage needs. You can always upgrade your plan in the future if your Internet needs grow.

  7. Step 7

Review your purchase and click the "CheckOut" button.

  8. Step 8

Create your account by making up a unique user name and a password. Don't forget these two key pieces of your account. It may take several tries to come up with a unique user name.

  9. Step 9

Choose a "Secret Question" by clicking on the drop-down menu and providing the answer in the box below the question. The question is designed to help you access your account if you forget your password.

  10. Step 10

Set up a payment schedule when you sign up for your new Juno account by following the instructions on the screen.

  11. Step 11

Confirm your purchase and click the "Download" button to get the Juno Internet service client for your computer. Choose "Run" in the pop-up window to install the program. Your new Juno email uses the same user name and password you chose when setting up your new Juno account.
