How to Change Myspace Song

So you were able to figure out how to put a song on your Myspace page. What if you want to change it now? Or, what if the artist no longer allows free use of the song and deletes it from your page! You will learn in this article how to put a song onto your Myspace page, and how to change to a new song.

How to Put a Song on Your Myspace Page

1. Login to your Myspace account. Go to the control panel on the left-hand side of your page, and click on "profile."
2. This takes you to "profile edit." You can select Personal info, groups or comments. Select "personal info."
3. On the right, look for the blue link for "song and video." Left-click once on this.
4. You should see "Profile song: Add a song to your profile." Beside these words is a blue link to "Find a band in Myspace Music." Left-click once on this link.
5. If you know the song you want, do a keyword search for it at the right top of the page you were just taken to. If not, search the directory for a band and song you want.
6. Once you find the band and song, you have to see if the song is available for you to use on your page. If it is, there will be an "add" link beside it. Left-click once on this.
7. You will be asked, "Do you really want to add this song to your profile?" Click once on "add song to profile."
8. You will see the name of the song and artist, followed by "has been added to your profile." You can now click on the blue "view my profile" link below this statement. This will allow you to check to see if the song has been added to your profile.
9. Scroll down your profile page, below your profile photo, contact info and URL. You should see a box that has the song in it, with a play button and volume control. Hit the play button and enjoy your song!

How to Change your Myspace Song

10. To change your Myspace song, you will first need to remove the song you already have on your Myspace page. First, go to your homepage. (Login, which takes you to your homepage.)
11. On the left-hand side of the page, you will see the control panel. Left-click once on "profile." This takes you to a page with "profile edit" in the upper left of the page.
12. Below the blue "Interests and Personality," you will see links across the screen. Choose the link for "song and video" and left-click the link once.
13. Now you should come to a "profile edit" page that says "profile songs" at the top. Underneath this, you will see your profile song name and band. There will be a "remove" button. Left-click to remove the song.
14. If you want to use a song that you used previously, click the link to view and edit your song history. This pulls up your previous Myspace songs. To choose one of these, simply click on "add to my profile" next to the song you choose.
15. If you wish to use a new song, click on "find a band in myspace music." There is a box for searching artists. Put in an artist and hit "search."
16. Once you get to the band's homepage, if you scroll down, you will come to a place with songs available by the artist, evidenced by a play, pause and stop button and volume level with songs underneath.
17. Is your song peaceful, like a waterfall? (Stummelbach Falls, Switzerland) Find the song you want, and then click "add" underneath the song title. (You may also see download, comment, and lyrics as other options.)
18. A box will open that asks if you really want to add this song to your profile. If so, then click on "add song to profile."
19. You will get a message saying that the song was added to your profile. To double-check, click underneath this on "view my profile."
20. On your profile page, underneath your photo, contact info and URL listing, you should see the song listed, with a play button and volume control. If so, you have successfully changed your Myspace song!

Tips & Warnings

• Remember that the song you pick is the song on your profile page for the world to view. Everyone will be able to listen to the song, and see what kind of music you like. Your song choice could also say something about your personality!
• There is no cost to adding a song to your page by the artist.
• Unfortunately, not all songs are able to be placed on your Myspace page. Only songs allowed currently by the artist may be added.
• The permission could also change--you may find one day that you go to your profile page and see that your song was deleted by the artist. This means they are no longer allowing the song to be used by Myspace users on their Myspace pages.
• Some artists, even though there is an "add" key next to a certain song, will not allow you to use the song for your Myspace song. In this event, choose another song, or search for another artist to find a new song.
