Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Internet access
  1. Step 1

Think about the type of person you want to establish a friendship with. Should they come from a particular country? Do you want a male or female pal? Do you want them close to your age range? Consider these things while browsing through the many profiles. You are allowing a stranger to see a glimpse of your life, so make sure you pick your future friend wisely and not based solely on his or her appearance if their picture is posted.

  2. Step 2

When you have selected the person, write him or her a cheerful, bright message by way of introduction. No one wants to receive depressing emails. Ask them questions about their lives, interests, work and family. Be sincere in your interest.

  3. Step 3

Do not give out personal information after the first few emails. Get to know the person before you exchange phone numbers, addresses or last names. You do not want to be paranoid, but there are many con artists lurking in cyberspace.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be careful with marriage proposals. They can be romantic but sometimes they come from con artists who want to leave their current situation in hopes to live in your country.
  • If you want Christian pen pals, go to the Christians R Us website.
  • If the person has given you his or her phone number but you don't know them well enough, block your number the first few times you call them.
