How to put on false lashes like a pro

Longer eyelashes can create a more dramatic look.

Longer lashes frame your face and make your eyes look more dramatic. You may be unsatisfied with over-the-counter serums to boost lash growth and mascaras that promise longer, fuller lashes. If you're not fortunate enough to be born with long, lush lashes, luckily there are a variety of fake eyelashes available on the market. These lashes range from natural looking to dramatic party styles. You can also choose between individual lashes and longer strips.

Things You'll Need

• False lashes
• Lash glue
• Eyeliner
• Mascara

Instructions

1. Apply your full face of makeup. The lashes will be the last thing you add to your face. As part of your makeup, apply a line of black or brown eyeliner on your upper eyelid, as close to your lashes as possible. This will ensure there is no visible gap of skin between the false lash and your own lashes, if you cannot get them close enough. Also apply a coat of mascara. The mascara's sticky texture will help the false lashes adhere to your own lashes.

2. Compare the false eyelashes to your own eyelashes. If you want a natural look, you may want to trim them. They may also be too long for your eyelid, in which case you should also cut off enough to fit your own lid perfectly. When trimming, go for an uneven look if you want to look natural, since our lashes naturally grow in varying lengths.

3. Apply lash glue. You can dab the glue on the back of their hands and run the sticky side of the false lashes across it. Or use a clean eyeliner brush to blot some glue directly onto the back of the lashes.

4. Position the lashes as close to your own lashes as possible, using tweezers. This will need to be done very quickly because the glue will dry in only a few seconds. If you are applying individual lashes, you may want to only apply them on the outer corners of your eyelid, for a more natural look. Strip lashes can usually be applied with just your fingers.

5. Curl both your lashes and the false lashes together. Wait for the glue to dry first, and be very gentle so that you do not move the lashes. Then, apply another coat of mascara to blend the lashes well.
