Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

Import a New Form Template into Microsoft Word

  1. Step 1

Go to office.microsoft.com through the link provided in the resources section of this article. Look through the hundreds of free templates. Take your time as you sample template types that include memos, receipts, invitations, memos, greeting cards, invoices, reports, and other templates made specifically for Office products by Microsoft.

Make sure that any template of your choosing is compatible with your version of Word.

  2. Step 2

Double-click on one of the template types to go to the template’s download page. Click on the “Download” button.

Note that you may have to install a Microsoft ActiveX Control application before downloading the free template. In doing so, you’ll have to accept a service agreement for this application.

Save the downloaded document as a template.

  3. Step 3

Another option is to purchase and download third-party created templates available at www.office.microsoft.com/en-us/marketplace/default also linked in the resources section. Click on the “Templates for Word” link to see the selections offered. Each product on this page is linked to a third-party company’s web site where templates may be purchased or downloaded for free.

The Avery Dennison Company, known mostly for its adhesive labels, offers free Word template downloads for use with other Avery products that can be purchased. Other templates from CreateCDLabels.com and Word Designer may be purchased as software and/or subscription packages.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you don’t know it already, most editions of Microsoft Word itself already contain free templates within the software. See this eHow article.
