Next Halloween how about you dress up as your favorite flamboyant rock-and-roll idol Freddie Mercury. Putting a Freddie Mercury costume together is fun and easy. You'll be sure to wow your friends and family at your next costume bash when you arrive dressed as the theatrical singer.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • tight jeans
  • poofy yellow jacket
  • black, shiny shoes
  • studded belt
  • fake mustache
  • cropped hair
  • novelty buckteeth
  1. Step 1

Get a haircut. You could do long-haired Freddie Mercury, but most people remember him from his short-haired mustachioed days.

  2. Step 2

Buy a pair of tight blue jeans. A thrift store is a great place to get a cheap pair.

  3. Step 3

If you don't already have black shoes, borrow or buy a pair. Make sure they're comfortable since you'll likely be standing a while at the party.

  4. Step 4

Buy a studded belt. Make sure the studs are silver and not gold.

  5. Step 5

Find a poofy yellow jacket. Although Freddie didn't wear it at every concert, he did wear it on occasion. As for an undershirt, anything fairly plain and tight will work. A white undershirt will suffice.

  6. Step 6

Two things really make a Freddie Mercury costume. The first is the mustache. If you don't feel like growing your own, go to a novelty store and buy one. Make sure it is the appropriate color and shape (black, medium sized and not bushy).

  7. Step 7

Finally buy a pair of false buckteeth. These two you can find fairly easily at any novelty store.

on 9/30/2008 Oooh, this is an awesome article.

Suggestion: If it's too hard to find something similar to the "Wembley" outfit, you could always pick something out from Queen videos.

i.e.
"Save Me" ~ tight (colored, if you're daring) jeans, loosely tied tie, (optional) shirt

"Crazy Little Thing Called Love" (very simple) ~ tight black jeans, black leather jacket, white t-shirt

on 8/8/2008 I have to tell you, this is an awesome article. Add some photos to it you'll get more hits, i'll even help you find photos. I'm a huge freddie fan.

You should add one more step too... have a microphone on half a mic stand.. :)

The yellow jacket isn't so poofy but a leather jacket, but poofy will work, i doubt we could find a jacket almost like his...the one he wore to wembley :)

I <3 Queen :)
