How to Change a Photoshop Cursor's Crosshair Back to a Brush Tip

When working on photo corrections in Adobe Photoshop, occasionally you need the precision of the crosshair cursor, while at other time the brush tip is more useful. When you select a tool and discover a crosshair where you'd prefer a brush, the switch is as close as a single click.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch Photoshop and open an image file. Select a tool that uses the paintbrush metaphor to change pixels -- the paintbrush tool, pencil or clone stamp tool, for example.

    • 2

Move your cursor over the image on the screen. You will see either a brush tip or a crosshair. Most people prefer the brush, because you can see where the changes will take place when you use the tool.

    • 3

Press the "Caps Lock" key on your computer keyboard to toggle the tool between crosshair and brush tip.
