Feather boas should be worn on special occasions or with costumes, and are very rarely an everyday accessory. However, if you need one for your flapper costume or are performing, here are some suggestions for buying your very own feather boa to wear for your night out.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Decide how much you want to spend. If you're looking for one to wear for a single performance for the talent show at school, you shouldn't spend to much on a feather boa. However, if you want one that you can wear out on the town when you feel flashy and want to look trendy, consider budgeting more than $20.

  2. Step 2

Look for different varieties online. Use the Internet to look at different types of feather boas so you know what selection is out there. Some feather boas are comprised of natural feathers with interesting colors and patters of feathers linked together. Guinea, swan, or peacock feathers are available, but are more expensive.

  3. Step 3

Visit your local craft store. Most craft stores have a selection of feather boas available in various lengths and colors. Some stores offer different types of dyed feathers such as white boas with blue tips or silver ribbons laced into them. If you're looking for something flashy, some online retailers offer boas with lights in them.

  4. Step 4

Find the perfect one. Once you've found a few options, compare them to the color of the outfit you're planning on wearing it with. If you are in a retail location, bring a piece of the outfit you're looking to wear it with such as an accessory or top.
