1
Decide what to put into the cauldron based on the age of the participants. If you're using the game for children, purchase gold-wrapped chocolate coins and an assortment of toys. For adults, you can use small wrapped gifts like decorator soap or airline-size bottles of alcoholic beverage.
-
2
Fill the plastic cauldron, which serves as the pot of gold, with the gifts. Lay a gold cloth over the top. Glue plastic coins, if you choose, to the top of the cloth.

3
Get a statue of a leprechaun and rainbow. Create a cardboard leprechaun and rainbow if you can't buy one.
-
4
Create elaborate directions and print enough for each guest. Put one direction on each card and put it in an envelope. Each direction takes guests to another set of directions.
-
5
Put the leprechaun and rainbow in the end location for the hunt. Place the directions in their envelopes where guests should find them. You can have a food station at every stop for directions with typical Irish food and green drinks. If you're entertaining a drinking crowd, green beer can be available also.
-
6
Announce the winner that finds the leprechaun first. Give small consolation prizes to the others.
