Tribes throughout South and Central America have used cocoa, the main ingredient in chocolate, as a medicine for many years. Cocoa is not only rich in antioxidants that keep your skin healthy, but scientists also believe cocoa contains properties that stimulate the release of endorphins which, when smelled, improve one's mood. Make a homemade chocolate face mask to moisturize and nourish your skin and help you feel good too.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1/3 cup cocoa
  • 2 tbsp. heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp. oatmeal powder
  1. Step 1

Combine cocoa, heavy cream, honey and oatmeal powder in a small dish. Mix the ingredients together until you achieve the consistency of pudding, suitable for applying to your face.

  2. Step 2

Clean your face thoroughly with soap and water. Dry your skin, apply the homemade face mask and gently massage it on your face to exfoliate.

  3. Step 3

Allow the mask to sit and penetrate your skin for up to 20 minutes. Rinse it off with lukewarm water and enjoy the soothing effects of your homemade chocolate face mask.

Tips & Warnings
  • The honey in this recipe helps to deeply cleanse the skin and open clogged pores, while the oatmeal works to exfoliate.
  • You can substitute sour cream for the heavy cream.
  • Add a couple tablespoons of finely ground coffee to your homemade face mask to incorporate coffee's cleansing properties.
