How to Finance a Girl Scout Troop

The Girl Scouts is an organization dedicated to building girls' courage, confidence and character. The organization provides girls with a safe place to meet their peers, learn new schools and have fun. Financing a Girl Scout troop is not difficult.

Instructions

    • 1

Collect dues. Dues may be as small or large as the troop decides. Use the dues to purchase supplies for projects or save the funds for trips or special outings. Most Girl Scout troops collect between 25 cents and $1 at every meeting.

    • 2

Hold fundraisers. Make the fundraisers entertaining and fun for the girls while teaching them how to raise money. For example, hold a Girl Scout car wash or bake sale to raise money for special trips or supplies.

    • 3

Ask companies, churches or large organizations to donate money. Many businesses and companies have allotted amounts to donate to non-profit organizations each year. In lieu of money, some companies may offer services or items to be raffled at a fundraiser.

    • 4

Ask the Girl Scouts to do chores or small tasks around the community for various people in exchange for funds or services. This not only helps raise money but it also counts toward the Girl Scouts' community service.

I was told by the council in my area that my troop may fundraise by selling things the girls have made. Such as a bake sale, car wash...etc.

Girl Scouts cannot solicite local organizations for money to support troops. All fundraisers must also be approved through your local coincil, and cannot coincide with cookie or fall product sales. Collecting dues, selling Girl Scout product (in the fall or cookies) are proven money makers.
