Some parents may wish to keep their children from being able to listen to certain satellite radio stations. XM Satellite Radio offers subscribers the option of blocking radio channels that XM designates as "explicit language" channels. To block the entire list of explicit language channels, simply follow the steps below.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • XM radio
  • XM radio subscription

Step1
Make sure the radio that you wish to block channels on is activated. If you need to activate the radio, call customer service.
Step2
Go to the XM Parental control website (see Resources below).
Step3
Find the list of explicit language channels that XM offers on the Parental Control web page. These are the channels that you can get blocked from your XM radio.
Step4
Block access to the entire list of explicit language channels. Enter your Radio ID and Billing Zip Code in the fields provided on the Parental Controls Web page.
Step5
Check the Customer Agreement box below the Billing Zip Code field.
Step6
Click the "Submit" button. All of the listed explicit language channels should now be blocked from that radio.
Step7
Block explicit language channels on additional XM radios that you may have by entering the Radio ID number for that radio and submitting your request.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also contact Customer Care by phone if you need help filling out the channel block form.
