Most teenagers will experience some degree of acne. Acne includes white heads, black heads and pimples. Acne is caused by pores that get blocked with an oily build up. Hormonal changes that occur in puperty and early adulthood contribute to acne.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate

Step1
Wash your face gently with warm water and a mild soap at least twice a day. This will help to eliminate the oil build up that causes acne. It is also a good idea to wash your face after you exercise because sweat can clog pores. Be sure to wash gently, scrubbing your skin will cause damage and breaks in the skin surface making your face more prone to acne.
Step2
Wear only make up that is labeled oil-free so it will not clog your pores and cause acne. If you wear make up be sure to wash it all off when you wash your face. Also choose oil-free lotions and sunscreens when using them on your face.
Step3
Eat a healthy balanced diet. Diets high in sugar and fats can contribute to acne problems.
Step4
Drink four glasses of water a day. Drinking plenty of water flushes our bodies and our skins of bacteria and toxins. Adding extra water to your diet may help to prevent acne.
Step5
Try over the counter lotions or creams. There are many different products on the market. Those that contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide will not only help to clear up acne if you already have it, but if used proactively can help to prevent acne flare ups.
