Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Secure a date, time and location for the party. Most school-sponsored high school parties happen on school campuses. If parents or a group host the party then an off-campus location such as a neighborhood clubhouse or local hotel can provide another option.

  2. Step 2

Select a Valentine's Day theme that incorporates elements of the holiday. For example, have a Sweets and Sweetheart Dance complete with hearts and red, pink and white flowers. Add cupid decorations and have a dessert bar with punch for the food.

  3. Step 3

Consider asking guests to dress according to the theme. They can come in all red or as famous couples. Many stores such as Anytimecostume sell costumes online year round.

  4. Step 4

Reserve the entertainment for the Valentine's Day party. Most high school parties have music, so get a DJ or a live band. Keep the party fun by having a dance contest or a Soul Train line where attendees can showcase their dance moves.

  5. Step 5

Include fun in the food and decorations. Have a chocolate fountain, personalize M&Ms or have dessert fondue. Have an area set aside for group or couples' board games such as the Newlywed game or Family Feud. Remember teenage appropriate prizes such as gift cards for the winners.

  6. Step 6

Provide favors such as Polaroid pictures of guest in front of a theme related background. Consider having someone dressed up as cupid for a picture prop or as part of the surprising entertainment.

Tips & Warnings
  • Sell tickets to the party to raise money for a group.
  • Do not sell or provide access to alcohol, even at an off-campus party.
