Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Buy a window tinting kit. Know that some come with tools and some don't. Order online or stop by your local auto parts store to purchase a kit. Get the tools you need as well if they don't come in the kit to apply a window tinting kit.

  2. Step 2

Clean the window you plan to tint. Understand that soapy water is used to apply a window tinting kit. Start by mixing your cleaning solution, which is made up of a ΒΌ teaspoon of baby shampoo per 1 quart of distilled water. Shake the mixture well and spray your window generously. Wipe down the window with paper towels or a lint free cloth. Scrape and remove dirt on your window with a chiseler.

  3. Step 3

Remove the window's weather gasket to apply a window tinting kit. Spray the solution liberally on the inside of the window. Spray also the sticky side of the window tint film as you remove it from the liner. Make sure you roll the window down slightly to apply the film. Begin tucking the film beneath the bottom gasket, using the jammer to help you. Align the film with the top of the slightly rolled down window, constantly adjusting to perfectly line it up with the window.

  4. Step 4

Use a wet surface for less friction to set the window tinting. Anchor the film by using the hard card to press it down at the center as you start to remove the water. Press out from the center and squeegee outward, removing every bubble.

  5. Step 5

Replace the weather gasket and cure the window tinting for three days. Keep windows up during that time.
