Things You'll Need:
- Whirlpool tub
- Reciprocating saw
- Drill
- Level
- Marker
- Pliers
- Pipe cutter
- PVC cutter
- Plumber's putty
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
- PVC cement and cleaner
- Faucet
- Pipes and fittings
-
Step 1
Move the tub into place for a test fitting against the walls. Follow manufacturer's directions for setting and leveling the tub. Mark the spots for the water and drain holes and remove the whirlpool tub.
-
Step 2
Cut the sub floor for the drainpipe, using a reciprocating saw, then cut the holes in the wall for the water pipes. Install a whirlpool overflow tube, which is longer than a regular overflow tube. Install the trip waste and overflow assembly onto your whirlpool.
-
Step 3
Align the shoe with the drain. Screw the chrome ring on but don't fully tighten. Put the overflow "T" on the shoe; the side that is threaded inside should face down. Match the overflow pipe to the overflow hole on the tub and the "T." Cut the overflow pipe to length.
-
Step 4
Remove the shoe and apply plumber's putty to the retaining ring. Put the shoe back with the rubber gasket between it and the tub and screw the ring down firmly.
-
Step 5
Install the compression nut and ferrule on the tub shoe pipe, then attach it to the 'T' and tighten. Attach the gasket to the overflow pipe and then put the compression nut and ferrule on the overflow, slide it into the "T" and tighten.
-
Step 6
Move the tub back into place carefully. Hook up the waste, drain, trap and water lines. Check for leaks.
-
Step 7
Attach the tub to the walls as specified by the manufacturer. Plug in the tub and turn it on.
