  1. Step 1

Install Adobe Photoshop on your computer after you have verified its compatibility with your operating system. Also be sure you have adequate memory and storage space.

  2. Step 2

Make use of the tutorial that comes with the software. It gives an overview of the program and walks you through its various features, such as how to create textures.

  3. Step 3

Open Photoshop and click "New" under the "File" menu. When the dialog box appears, set the image size at 60 pixels by 60 pixels and the mode for RGB color. Name your image and click "OK."

  4. Step 4

Start to create a texture in Photoshop by going to "Filter" and choosing "Noise," "Add Noise." Choose "Gaussian," type in 80 percent and hit "OK."

  5. Step 5

Go to "Filter" and click on "Stylize," "Emboss" and change the angle to -50, the height to 2 pixels and the amount to 70 percent. Hit "OK."

  6. Step 6

Change the color of your texture by selecting "Adjust," "Hue-Saturation" under the "Image" menu. Check the "Colorize" box and enter 40 for Hue and 100 for saturation. Entering another number for the Hue setting will produce a different color.

  7. Step 7

Save your texture as a GIF by selecting the appropriate format in the "Save" box.
