When baking homemade sugar cookies it is absolutely essential that you have homemade frosting for decoration. Whether or not you like frosting, you need to give this recipe a try. It is so sweet and delicious that you are bound to love it. It's nothing like that store-bought frosting.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 3 cups confectioners sugar
  • 1/3 cup softened sweet cream butter
  • 1-2 tbsp. milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 quart mixing bowl or mixer bowl
  • Mixer (if not using mixer bowl)
  1. Step 1

    Pour 3 cups of confectioners sugar in bowl with 1/3 cup of softened sweet cream butter.

  2. Step 2

    Stir ingredients with the mixer on low until they are evenly combined without any bumps.

  3. Step 3

    Add 1-2 tbsp. of milk to the mix.

  4. Step 4

    Add 1 tsp. of vanilla extract.

  5. Step 5

    Mix for 1-2 minutes on high speed until the frosting reaches a fluffy texture.

  6. Step 6

    Apply the frosting to your cookies or desert.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you would like different colored frosting, place some frosting in a separate bowl and add a few drops of food coloring, then mix. Repeat steps until you have the desired frosting color.
  • The frosting may be refrigerated for later use, and even placed in wax paper and in the freezer for eating on it's own at a later time.
