Instructions

    • 1

Find a box about the size of a small jewelry box. You can usually find these at a dollar or craft store. It isn't necessary to spend more than a dollar as it is so fun you'll want to make a new leprechaun treasure box every St. Patrick's Day.

    • 2

Purchase glue, colored paper or paints, glitter and confetti. If you don't have a heart-shaped paper punch and a hole punch you will need to buy these as well.

    • 3

Use the hole punch and make dots with yellow or gold paper. These are going to be placed in the treasure box to look like gold coins.

    • 4

Make shamrocks using the heart paper punch. Punch four hearts into green paper. Connect the tips of the hearts together to form a shamrock.

    • 5

Allow your child to decorate the box using the shamrocks, paper, and glitter. Let them be as creative as they want because this will be their treasure box for the leprechaun to choose and fill.

    • 6

Place the box on a low lying shelf or a coffee table when it is dry. Send your child to bed so that when she wakes up in the morning the box is filled with hidden treasure from a leprechaun.

    • 7

Put treasure in the box when your child is asleep. Cover the treasure with confetti and hide the box in an easy-to-find spot. Make a trail of shamrocks to the box.

Tips & Warnings

  • The treasure doesn't have to be anything expensive. It can be chocolate coins, hot wheel cars, playing cards or anything else you think your child may like.

  • The leprechaun usually leaves behind shamrocks by mistake that form a path to the treasure box.
