Step 1
Talk to your doctor. Ask for any information the office has on childbirth classes online, or in a more traditional setting. Even if they can't provide you with online class information, the people who provide traditional classes may be able to steer you in the right direction.
-
Step 2
Contact the educational department at the hospital where you will give birth. Many hospitals and now offer childbirth classes online to patients.
-
Step 3
Research online. There are several websites that offer online childbirth classes. Research your options carefully and use a site that is well known or sanctioned by the American Medical Association to insure accurate and safe information.
-
Step 4
Discuss the information you learn in your online child birth classes with your doctor. Talk over any questions or concerns that arise and discuss anything that sounds wrong or worries you. Your doctor can answer all your child birth related questions for you and set your mind at ease and what to expect.
-
Step 5
Tour the hospital maternity ward and the nurseries. Pay attention to the traditional birthing wards, as well as the areas for surgical births so you're prepared for either circumstance. Ask the nurses and doctors any questions that come to mind and ask for any literature they have. Being prepared will help ease your mind and answer your questions.

on 7/21/2009 We watched our online childbirth class at http://www.birthlink.org. With both of us working we didn't have time to take the 5 week long class at the hospital. This was fantastic as we watched online at home while we ate dinner preparing for our baby's birth. Highly recommend!

on 11/30/2008 I loved the Co-Creative Birthing online childbirth class at http://www.maiainstitute.com - and I recommend checking out that class or an independent childbirth class not offered by a hospital. Hospital's have cut lots of information from there classes and seeking an independent source of information will ensure that you are being taught what is best for you and not for the hospital.
