Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Check the antenna and adapter connections. A loose connection is often the cause of most XM receiver problems. Secure all connections to see if that fixes the issue.
Step2
Move the antenna to get a better view of the sky. Obstruction can cause the XM receiver to have a weak signal. Change the location of the antenna or wait to move to an area that has a clear view of the sky.
Step3
Change the audio output levels. If the sound coming over the speaker is distorted, try to decrease the audio output level from the main menu of the receiver. If the sound is low, increase the level.
Step4
Look at the fuse in the adapter. If the receiver is not powering up, it may have a blown fuse. You can change the fuse yourself by replacing it with a 1 amp fuse.
Step5
Clean out the power outlet in the vehicle. If there is build up in the power source, the XM radio may not work properly.
