Does the thought of cleaning your house just make you want to climb back into bed & throw the covers over your head? Well after reading this, cleaning won’t be such a bummer anymore. Me personally, I might be crazy or something, but I love cleaning. I just don’t like how long it takes. So after sometime I came up with a way to clean without it being such a hassle. You just got to get organized & you’ll be on your way to a cleaner house.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Broom
  • Mop
  • Household Cleaners
  • Paper Towels
  • Cleaning Gloves(Optional)
  • Sponge
  • Dish Soap
  • Music (Optional)
  • Frebreeze or Air Freshener
  • Carpet Powder & Vacuum (if you have carpet)
  • Bucket for mopping

Step1
Start by putting on some good music or a program on tv that you can listen to while cleaning to get you in a moving around mood ;)
Step2
Living Room~ Okay, you should always start with the Living-room because if you should get any uninvited guests, at least you’ll have that area clean. Start by picking up things that don’t belong in that area (toys, shoes, clothes, dishes, etc) & put them away. Then fix your couch(es), fluff up the pillows, etc. Now you can dust things off (table, computer desk, etc.), then you can powder your carpet, if you have any & then vacuum. Look around & make sure things are organized & where you want them.
Step3
Bathrooms~ Next, you can move to the guest bathroom & start by cleaning your sinks, counters, & fixing the shower curtain (because if you are like me, your kids have left it rearranged ;). Then start cleaning your toilets, mirrors, & changing your trash bag. Sweep & mop & then freshen the bathroom with my favorite, Frebreeze, or any kind of air freshener of your choice or even a candle (making sure to turn it off after about 15-30 minutes). Then you can move on to the next bathroom if any & do the same.
Step4
Dining Area~ Now, you can go to the dining area & clear off your table. Then wipe it down with a damp paper towel or with a light cleaner on a sponge, refill your napkin holder & salt & pepper shakers, if any.
Step5
Laundry~ Before moving on to the kitchen, which will probably take a little more time to complete, you can throw in a load of laundry & most likely have it done by the time you finish cleaning the kitchen. It’s good to do this in between your cleaning instead of doing it after all of your cleaning is done so that you don’t use more time to get everything done. When laundry is done, you can either fold & put away as soon as it is done to prevent wrinkling or just tossing it on your bed & waiting until all cleaning is done.
Step6
Kitchen~ Start clearing off your counters & then move on to washing dishes in this order: Plates, Bowls, Cups, Silverware, & Pots/Pans. Then clean your counters, stove, microwave, outside fridge, etc.
Step7
Bedrooms~ In here, you can start by making the bed, putting things away (clothes, shoes, etc.), & then powdering the carpet, if any & vacuuming.

Tips & Warnings

  • When Sweeping & Mopping & Vacuuming, try doing it in order of importance to you, this is mine: Bathrooms, Kitchen/Dining Area, Bedrooms, Etc.
  • Wash in between cleaning instead of waiting. This gets your laundry done at the same time you are cleaning another area of your house.
  • Do what is more important to you, if you do not need to sweep or mop everyday, just move on to the next thing.
  • You can also make things easier by doing certain things at the same time, such as, throwing the bathroom & kitchen trashes instead of doing it as you move on to the next room. That goes for sweeping & mopping. You can wait until the end to sweep room by room & then mop room by room so that you don’ t have to keep taking out the broom, mop, & mop water.
  • Don’t overdo it. Do what you can & take a little timed break of at least 10-30 minutes. You can do this by sitting down & sorting out your clean clothes & folding it up so that you don’t sit & do nothing or you can watch a little tv (just make sure you don’t stay there for too long ;D)
