How to Care for a Green Iguana

Green iguanas can be difficult to handle, but following these steps makes the process easier.

Things You’ll Need:

• Fresh veggies
• Reptile light
• Adequate caging

1. Construct adequate housing. Make sure that your iguana has enough room for how large he is.
2. Feed it fresh veggies that are particularly enjoyed by this species--plants like green pepper, any kind of greens, carrots, celery, squash and similar foods.
3. Clean its cage daily or every 2 days. Remove any waste with a damp cloth.
4. Maintain a functioning reptile light at all times. Allow enough room for the iguana to move freely around the light.

Tips & Warnings

• When uncomfortable, they will smack with their large barbed tails.
• Never use a regular lightbulb. Your iguana will go blind.
