Here are some simple steps to keeping your Christmas tree alive for the holidays.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

The first and foremost step to keeping a Christmas tree alive for the holidays is to purchase the tree as close to the holiday as possible. If you must purchase the tree early make sure there is a lot of sap at the bottom, the more sap the healthier the tree.

  2. Step 2

The second step is to prep the tree trunk, by cutting off a section at the base to get to the green areas in the center of the trunk.

  3. Step 3

The third step is to make certain the tree has enough water. The needles will fall off as the tree dies, so the more needles falling the more water you need.

  4. Step 4

The final step is to make certain the water is maintained on a daily basis. This is especially true of a tree bought early. The tree is used to a moist environment, so the more water the better.
