Things You'll Need:
- 1 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups apple, sliced
- pie crust
- 6 tablespoons flour
- 1/4 cup butter
- cinnamon
- mixing bowl and spoon
- cutting board and knife
-
Step 1
Gather ingredients. This is a good time to remove butter and packaged pie crust from the refrigerator, so they may soften. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
-
Step 2
Slice the apples.Slice 2 cups of apple. I used large Honeycrisp apples and only needed one and a half. If you are using smaller apples, you may need up to three.
-
Step 3
Mix ingredients for the pie filling.Mix the 2 cups sliced apples, 1 beaten egg, 1 cup sour cream, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and 3/4 cup of the sugar in a bowl.
-
Step 4
Prepare crust.Unroll the pie crust in a pie pan. You may also prepare a homemade crust.
-
Step 5
Add pie filling.Pour pie filling into the pie crust.
-
Step 6
Bake the pie.Cook the pie at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
-
Step 7
Mix the pie topping. While the pie is cooking, mix together the ingredients for the pie topping: 1/2 cup sugar, 6 tablespoons flour, 1/4 cup butter, and a dash of cinnamon. Set this mixture aside.
-
Step 8
Put topping on the pie.Remove the pie from the oven. Sprinkle the topping mixture on the pie surface.
-
Step 9
Bake an additional 45 minutes.Return the pie to the oven for an additional 45 minutes. You can protect the pie crust (as shown in the photo at left) if the crust becomes too well done.
-
Step 10
Enjoy!Remove pie from oven and enjoy!
