Things You'll Need:
- Appointment with a professional nail salon
- Flip flops (optional)
-
Step 1
Choose a reputable business, and inspect the salon for cleanliness and proper licensing. Make sure that foot basins appear clean and disinfected. Note the tools and the measures that are taken to clean them. Tools that cannot be disinfected after use should be thrown away.
-
Step 2
Schedule plenty of time for your nails to dry: at least half an hour to 45 minutes.
-
Step 3
Plan ahead. When weather permits, bring flip flops to wear home after your pedicure. In the wintertime, wear shoes or boots that are not too snug.
-
Step 4
Before your manicure, remove any jewelry from your hands and put it where you won’t forget it. Better yet, leave jewelry at home when you are going for a manicure.
-
Step 5
If you feel comfortable with the business, ask if you can pay for your manicure and pedicure ahead of time. This way, you won’t smudge your nails retrieving your wallet from your purse. At the very least, have your credit card out of your purse before the manicure begins.
-
Step 6
If you smudge your nails as you are getting ready to leave, ask the salon to correct it. A good nail salon can correct minor problems fairly quickly with good results.
