1
Fit the guide onto the clipper. Turn the clipper on in the lowest setting if you have power settings.
-
2
Follow the contours of the head from front to back on the top, let the clippers cut the hair for you. Don't push down; rather, let the clipper head ride over the head.
-
3
On the sides of the head lift the clipper from back to front following the contour of the ear. This will catch all the hair on the side of the head and around the ear.
-
4
Lift the clippers from bottom to top in the back in order to get a uniform cut all around.

Thanks for this! Lately, all I've been asking for is a '6 on the sides, blend in the top'. I figure, if all I want done is something so simple, and I have the tools, why not do it myself? I believe I will give this a try tomorrow! :D -

Ive done this for the past ten years or so and with good result. Yes, the mirror does help but it still does not give you eyes in back of your head. The way I have learned to handle that is to grasp a finger full of hairs between two fingers and while holding those hairs away from my scalp, I run the cutter into them as you let them go. That is repeated until you can no longer feel any long hairs. The area near the ears is always a bit of a problem too and that is where the mirror on the bathroom wall is your second pair of eyes and your scissors the proper tool for that and to chop any long hairs you note on top of your bean after you run your hair brush over your head. -
