Non-competition wear for a pageant can include anything from the outfit you arrive in at registration to the rehearsals outfits. Your outfits should be nice but comfortable. Keep in mind that you always want to look your best since you never know when and if the judges or photographers’ will show up.

Things You'll Need:

  • nice pant outfits
  • cute tops and nice jeans (darker fades are best)
  • comfortable shoes and pageant high heels
  • jacket or sweater
  • barrettes, combs or ribbons for your hair
  1. Step 1

    For your arrival to pageant week or orientation, most contestants will be meeting each other for the first time, so you want to look your best. It is not necessary to wear a suit or dress. A nice pant outfit is recommended. Don’t forget earrings and appropriate shoes.

    Rehearsal clothing can be more casual but comfortable. You will see everything from sweats, jeans, running suits and tennis shoes, to nice pant outfits. Wear clothes that make you feel good. You will be looking at your competition all day and you never want to second guess yourself.

    Because of the great amount of heat the lights produce on stage, rehearsal rooms are often kept cold. Bring an attractive jacket or sweater for those times that the lights are off.

    Bring comfortable shoes for rehearsal, as wells as you competition heels. This way you so you can practice walking on stage with your competition shoes and relax in between with your comfortable shoes.

  5. Step 5

    Use attractive barrettes, combs or ribbons to keep your hair off your face while rehearsing. A ponytail can be a comfortable, cute alternative.

    You don’t need to show up in full makeup. Use as much makeup necessary to give you a polished, winning look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Wearing jeans is an individual decision. Many years ago it was frowned upon for Beauty Queens wearing jeans, however with today’s fashion looks you can find many denim outfits that look put together.
  • The key to appropriate wardrobe is to find a style and color that works well with you; if you know what looks good on you now may no be the time to try something new.
