Bowing requires a little more space so don't be offended if the greeter is not close to you.

Female hand position for a proper bow in Japan.Men - Arms extended and hands flat against your thighs.
Women - Hands crossed in front of you with the right hand over your left hand. -
Step 4
Start the bow by looking at the persons eyes your greeting. As you bend your torso keep your line of sight with his or her torso as you bend. Make sure your eyes are open and not fixed on the other persons eyes as you bow.
Incline your torso at a 15 to 45 degree angle. -
Step 5
A bow between foreign colleagues may be followed by a handshake and initiated by the elder or higher ranking business man.
