Finding extra time to read can be difficult for the modern person who is joined at the hip to laptops and cellphones. Responsibilities like family, work and household duties make it hard to find the time to open a book. However, with a little creativity, it is possible to make extra time for reading.
Listen to your books in the car. Instead of reading traditional books, consider audio books on CD. You can listen to them through your car stereo, so they're ideal for people with a long commute to work.
2
Read to your kids to mix your reading time with family time. Many books, like the Harry Potter series, are entertaining for both kids and adults.
3
Go to bed later. Spend 15 minutes before bed reading a chapter or two of your favorite book. You may lose a little bit of sleep, but you'll get a chance to do some extra reading.
4
Multitask your reading. Carry a book with you so you can read whenever there's an opportunity, such as in the doctor's waiting room or while the kids are at soccer practice.
5
Turn off the TV. Many people watch hours and hours of TV each week. Turn off a sitcom to get 30 minutes of commercial-free reading.
6
Read during lunch. If you normally eat lunch at your desk, use that time to read, too. If you get 60 minutes for lunch, you've just found an extra hour of reading time every day.
