There's no need to worry about sun exposure or ultraviolet rays when you use a spray tanner. The formula stains your skin, making it look tan. And, it lasts for about a week. Self-tanners give people another option to indoor tanning booths. The industry has evolved over the last few years, so it's easier than ever to get a natural looking tan using spray tan.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Body soap
  • Exfoliator
  • Spray tan
  • Makeup sponge
  1. Step 1

Make an appointment at a Mystic Tanning salon. The night before, shower and exfoliate your skin. Follow with a moisturizer.

  2. Step 2

Wear whatever you want to the session. The booth is completely private, so you can wear nothing while you tan to avoid tan lines.

  3. Step 3

Cover your hair with a shower cap if you want to. Stand completely still while the tan sprays you evenly. It will tan all the exposed skin.

  4. Step 4

Do it yourself at home. Buy a product like Neutrogena Micro Mist tanning spray.

  5. Step 5

Clean and exfoliate your skin. When you're completely dry, hold the can about 6 inches from your body and spray in a sweeping motion. Keep the can constantly moving. At the end of each stroke, stop spraying.

  6. Step 6

Get all the hard to reach places with no problem. Many spray tan products are made to spray in all directions, even if the can is upside down.

  7. Step 7

Moisturize your skin to keep it glowing. Reapply the spray tan after five to six days.

Tips & Warnings
  • There's no need to rub in spray tan.
  • Apply the tanner to your fingers or to a makeup sponge and apply it to your face.
  • Always wear sun block when you're outside.
  • Wash hands immediately after applying spray tan.
  • Don't apply too much spray tan on rough areas like knees, elbows and ankles.
  • Pay close attention when you're spraying your hands, wrists and ankles. These areas tend to show the tan more than others, looking unnatural. If necessary, use a makeup sponge to apply the self tanner.
