Deep sea fishing trips are available up and down the coastline of the United States. It is an enjoyable pastime for many. Learning to dress so you are comfortable during these trips is essential. A few basic tips and hints will keep you at ease.

1. Consider the location and the time of year your trip is scheduled. Dressing for a trip in Florida is different from dressing for a Maine trip. Different times of year will also change the weather conditions.

2. Check the local forecast before deciding what to wear. Companies that offer deep sea fishing trips will usually have local conditions posted at their place of business. Some even have the information on their websites.

3. Dress in layers. You will want to dress for the coldest possibility. Dressing in layers will allow you to take a layer or two off in the event you get warm.

4. Wear rubber-soled shoes. Sneakers or lightweight boots are the best. Rubber-soled shoes will prevent any slipping on the deck of the boat.

5. Apply sunscreen and take the bottle with you. Water will reflect the sun's rays. Even in the winter you can be sunburned. Apply it every few hours.

• Wear casual clothing. Fishing can sometimes be messy. Wear clothes that you can get dirty and easily clean.
