How to Wear False Facial Hair

False facial hair can be used in a stage costume or as part of a fun disguise. With skilful application, you can achieve almost any look imaginable.

Things You'll Need

• Spirit gum or other adhesive
• Compact comb
• Hair scissors
• Dull knife or flat metal
• Facial hairpieces

Instructions

1. Choose a color at least 1 shade lighter than the hair on your head. For a natural look, use slightly different shades of hair, as natural hair is never consistent.

2. Comb the false hair lightly to get rid of loose strands. Make sure all the strands go in the same direction. Using hair scissors, trim the false pieces until the hair is the same length in a neat line.

3. Add the spirit gum or adhesive to the hair in small quantities. Apply the hair by adding layers and overlapping each layer carefully until the hair is the desired consistency. Follow the natural direction of your existing facial hair growth.

4. Wait for the adhesive to dry and the hair securely adheres to your face. Remove any excess by dabbing with a damp cloth. Don't pull or snag any of the false hair strands.

5. Use a cool, hard metal material, such as a blunt knife or travel iron, to slowly press the applied hair onto your face in small sections. Resist moving during this process, as the hair can easily become dislodged.

6. Practice making natural movements with your new hair and wiggling facial muscles until you are accustomed to the feeling. When wearing your new hair for the first time in public, avoid touching the hair too much. Make your gestures as natural as possible.
