In addition to being durable and strong, coffee cans are able to stand up to years of wear and tear. They are also versatile, as you'll learn when you put them to a variety of uses.

Step1

Apply reflective tape to the outside of the coffee can. Keep them in the trunk of your vehicle in case of emergency. Place the cans on the road to warn oncoming drivers that a vehicle is ahead.

Create holiday gift packages by wrapping coffee cans with construction paper and decorate them with winter scenes. Line the can with tissue paper and fill them with homemade cookies.

Use the cans as storage containers for crafts, pens, screws, nails, crayons or any other small, stray items.

Step4

Seed your yard or garden. Poke small holes in the bottom of the can. Fill it with grass seed and shake it onto the yard.

Freshen a room. Place charcoal in an empty coffee can. Poke holes in the plastic lid. Place the lidded can in an area that is prone to mold and mildew. The charcoal removes the odor and absorbs the moisture.

Step6

Make a bank for spare change. Cut a 1 1/2 inch by 1/2 inch slit in the plastic lid on top of the can. Wrap the outside of the can with construction paper. Decorate the construction paper with markers, and stickers.

Step7

Assemble a time capsule. Place items that are significant to you in the coffee can. Place your lidded can in a hole in the back yard. Fill the hole with dirt and mark the spot. Create a map to find the time capsule in the future.
