Nipple piercing is a common type of piercing that both men and women get done. Many different types of jewelry can be put into a nipple piercing, which makes it a fun piercing to get. If you are in good health, there is no reason that you shouldn't get a nipple piercing done.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find a reputable salon. Ask for recommendations from friends who have had body piercings done. The salon must be clean, and instruments should be sterilized between clients.

  2. Step 2

Take a pain reliever prior to the piercing. The nipple is a sensitive area and a piercing can hurt. Take an over-the-counter pain reliever a half an hour before the procedure to decrease your discomfort.

  3. Step 3

Choose the jewelry that you want to put on your nipple. There are rings with pendants attached as well as dumbbells. Ask the salon worker which ones are best to use until the nipple has healed.

  4. Step 4

Get entry marks put on your nipples. The piercer will put these on to guide her while she is performing the nipple piercing.

  5. Step 5

Allow the piercer to do the procedure. Your nipple is likely to be clamped and then pierced using a tube that is pushed through the area. The ring is put on the nipple when the tube is being pulled out.

  6. Step 6

Follow all after-care instructions. The nipple will have to be cared for and cleaned to reduce the chance of infection.

Tips & Warnings
  • Never pierce your nipple yourself. This will greatly increase your chance of developing an infection.
  • Don't change the nipple jewelry until the piercing has completely healed.

on 7/14/2009 Never take any type of medication without first discussing it with your piercer. Some medications can thin the blood. Talk to your piercer! Go into the shop, ask questions, view the area, and get comfortable before just running in to have something pierced.
