Tips & Warnings
  • Dusting pottery is the best way to clean it.
  • Use a mild dish detergent on a dampened towel to clean your pottery pieces.
  • To clean a thick build up of grime and dirt on antique art pottery, mix one cup of ammonia with two gallons of water and soak the piece for 24 hours. Do not do this if there are any chips or cracks on the piece, as it could cause damage.
  • If pottery is chipped, cracked, or has crazing or flaking do not soak it in water. It will absorb the liquid and damage your piece.
  • Never soak a piece of pottery that has been repaired or restored.
