Just as when dealing with files on your computer, there are times when you need to delete whole folders that contain mail messages that are no longer of use. In Yahoo! mail, you can create and delete folders to help organize your messages. When you are finished with one particular set of messages that have been saved in a folder, you can easily remove the folder and its contents.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open your Internet browser and go to Yahoo homepage. Select the "My Mail" option in the upper right hand portion of the page.

  2. Step 2

Log in using your Yahoo! ID and password when you are prompted to login. You are then taken to your mail account. Make sure that you have saved any important information that you may have in the folder that you wish to delete. If there are whole messages that you want to save, transfer them to another folder.

  3. Step 3

Click "Edit" beside the heading "Folders," located at the top of the left-hand column of the page. This will take you to a page that lists all the folders that are associated with this mail account.

  4. Step 4

Click "Delete" beside the folder that you wish to remove. After each folder in the list is the option to rename or delete the folder.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once deleted, a message or folder of messages may not be retrievable. Make sure that you have reviewed each message in the folder and are sure there is nothing of import in any of the messages.
