Log in or download the Ares program at Ares.com. The program requires at least 64 megabytes of RAM, at least a 233 megahertz processor and at least 5 megabytes of disk space for the installation.

Type the title or name of the artist into Ares' search box. Choose "Music File" in the "File Description." Click "Search." Ares searches the database for all music files that include the words in the search. It is also possible to search for multiple songs at a time by opening a new search.

Choose the files you want to download from the list provided. The list may be extensive depending on your search criteria. Browse the list for the best quality and download speed before choosing your file.

Click the "Download" button. This automatically begins the download of your music. Ares then prompts you to choose a folder for the file to save to before the download begins.

Because Ares requires a small fee, all the downloads are legal.
Ares allows you to create a folder on your computer for files to share. These files are added to the Ares database, and then any Ares member is able to download the files.
