Most everyone has had break-ups and heartaches. You can put these emotions into a positive outlet and write a love song. Even if you're not a songwriter, if you feel strongly enough you can most likely put your feelings down on paper and come up with a love song. If you're not sure where to start, here's how.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderate
Step1
Become familiar with how to write songs. Read song lyrics and poems. Listen to love songs. Get a feel for how others before you do it yourself.
Step2
Use the name of your loved one in the song. This can help make the words come from the heart and make them more personal to you.
Step3
Think about what you want to say to the person you love. You might want to tell him what it is about him that you love. If you're singing about a person with whom you've broken up, you might want to sing about how much you want that person back in your life.
Step4
Take a fresh approach. Many love songs have been written about falling in—or out of—love. Write about a specific love situation you experienced. By drawing on your own personal experiences, you can write a song that might be unlike many other love songs already recorded.
Step5
Write the melody for your song once you have completed the lyrics. If you don't play an instrument or write music, ask a friend who does to assist you.

Tips & Warnings

  • Read the ebook "How To Write Love Songs" by William Brooks.
  • Don't plagiarize or copy other songs. But do get inspired.
