Firefox is an ever-popular Internet browser. As its popularity increases, so does the features that it offers. Gone are the days of squinting at the screen, even if you have a tiny monitor! If you find yourself constantly using the browser text size controls to either increase or decrease the text size on sites you visit often, the No Squint Firefox add on is meant for you.

  1. Step 1

If you don't already have Firefox installed, download it now. (See Resources for a link.)

  2. Step 2

With Firefox open and running on your computer, go to the NoSquint download page. (See Resources for a link.) Download the add on.

  3. Step 3

The add on will install automatically. You then need to exit Firefox and restart it.

  4. Step 4
After installation, set up the NoSquint preferences or options.

When Firefox restarts, you can set up NoSquint to do some very helpful things. Go to Tools > Add ons > Extensions. Highlight NoSquint and click the button to set the Preferences. The image shows how it looks at this point in Firefox for Mac. Windows may look slightly different. Another path to the settings is Tools > NoSquint Settings.

  5. Step 5
Set the options for NoSquint as you want them

Set a default zoom level that will apply to all pages. Or you can set zoom levels for individual sites. No Squint will remember this for you. The zoom level options are the most important. If you want to use other options, the NoSquint site explains all the Options in more detail. (See Resources for a link.)

  6. Step 6
    Look for a letter

See the letter "A" and a zoom level in your browser. On a Mac, it's at the lower right of the browser. If you right-click (ctrl-click) this, it shows you the setting for the particular site you are on. You can change it in the popup window, or you can use your mouse wheel or keyboard commands to change the zoom level. If you set NoSquint to remember, it will be the same when you return to the site.
