Once you spot a scorpion, prepare to act quickly: they can run fast.

If you are wearing close-toed shoes and are not too afraid, step heavily on the scorpion and press your foot down, swiveling it to squish the scorpion.

If you are not wearing proper shoes or are too afraid to go near the scorpion, quickly find a large book or flat object and drop it on the scorpion.

Step on the book or object and twist and turn it to squish the scorpion.

Before attempting to pick up or discard the scorpion, make sure it is totally dead: sometimes they flatten but do not die.
Tips & Warnings
Try not to shine light on a scorpion--it will flee when it senses light or your presence.
Just stepping on a scorpion might not kill it. They can flatten to the width of a credit card. Make sure you apply a lot of pressure and turn your foot or object to squish the critter good!
