Put More Joy into Family Life

The other day Joy to the World by Three Dog Night was playing on my car radio and instead of focusing on my long list of errands, instantly I was singing along with the lyrics. There I was behind the wheel, stuck in a traffic jam, and bouncing in time with the beats, happily absorbed in the free expression of the song. Such a spontaneous light-hearted joy was enough to put a positive spin on what could have been a stressed filled day of obligations. Often we think of joy as happening when things are going smoothly, but this musical reprieve reminded me that it is possible to squeeze joy into our daily routine. When you overwhelmed between duties of homework and housework why not tap into the simple pleasures that make life joyful.

This was great! Thank you. I am a single Mom of 2 girls. One almost 5 and one is 6 months. Its hard to show the lighthearted side of myself when I am schlepping kids from here to there, getting myself ready in the morning.. driving kids to and from the babysitter.. It shows me that I need to stop and smell the roses and not always be in such a rush. I know its important to be on time.. but I need to establish a good attitude from the beginning and then hopefully my Lil girls will follow with good attitudes! I need to put their cds on in the car after I get them situated,.makes for a more pleasureable commute!
