Things You'll Need:
- Snowboard Review
-
Step 1
Before you buy a snowboard you want to make sure it is the right size for you. Your goal should be to find a snowboard that you can have the most fun with. Riding a board that is too big for you will be difficult to turn and you will probably hate the board.
-
Step 2
Snowboards that measure between your chin and collar bone are known as short boards, good for jibbers and lighter riders. How to find the right size snowboard is NOT about how tall you are, but how much you weight. Snowboards only react to weight. If you are a lighter person and are looking for a board that is easy to maneuver you should buy a snowboard that measures between your collar bone and chin. These boards are known as short boards. Jibbers ride short boards because they are easy to do tricks with.
-
Step 3
Snowboards that measure between your chin and nose are good for average weight riders looking for a good all around boardAn average weight person who likes to ride all kinds of terrain should get a board that measures between the chin and nose. Most snowboarders ride board's with in this range. For a lighter person a board in this range could be used as a powder board, or a heavier person could use this range for a jibbing board.
-
Step 4
Snowboards that measure to your nose are good for heavier riders and for riding in powder.A heavier person should get a snowboard that measures to at-least their mouth, but to their nose might be better. Powder board's also measure to the mouth and up. The extra length keeps the nose above the snow. Riding a little snowboard in powder isn't nearly as fun because you spend the whole time trying to keep your nose from burying in the snow.
-
Step 5
There is no magic formula to finding the perfect snowboard. The best advice is to follow the above info, try your friends boards out and read snowboard reviews. Also it is a good idea to demo before you buy a snowboard. I hope this helps and Good Luck!

on 11/2/2007 Thanks for all the great information bettersnowboard. I wish I had known the snowboards should be bought with weight in mind and not height. Two years ago I bought a snowboard, but never enjoyed it because it was difficult to turn. Now I know why. I'm currently shopping for a new snowboard and will be using your advice. I also have found your 08' Snowboard Review link to be very useful. Thanks again for the article. -jay-
